Bock Cherk Lim (Bob), 96, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019. Bock was born November 3, 1922 in Guangzhou, China (Toishan Province). He immigrated to the United States (San Francisco, CA) when he was 16 years old, living in Oakland the majority of his life.
Bock is a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II. He succeeded in supporting and taking care of his family, as well as his extended families through hard work by being a local business owner for over 39 years. 25 years in the grocery retail business and 14 years in the garment manufacturing sector.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he was very close to his grandchildren. Bock was really into watching baseball games especially when it involved his favorite team, the San Francisco Giants. The Giants winning the 3 World Series championships this decade was a high point for him.
Bock is survived by his wife of over 72 years Lila Lim; children Elaine Lim (daughter), Edmond (Son) and Vivian Lim, Phillip (Son) and Jennie Lim; grandchildren James Smith, Valerie Lim, Matthew Lim, Trevor Lim and Samantha Lim.
Bock is preceded in death by his oldest son, Howard Lim.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Grant Miller Mortuary, 2850 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, CA 94609. Longevity luncheon will be immediately after the service at Buffet Fortuna, 800 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94607.
