On June 9, 2019, Darren Keith Willoughby passed away peacefully in his home in California. He was 50 years old.
Darren was born December 16, 1968 in Newark, NJ. He spent his formative years in Norfolk, VA, graduating from Lake Taylor High School in 1987. While in high school, Darren served as senior class president and was a member of the Debate Team and Spanish Club.
Darren attended Rutgers University in New Jersey where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in accounting in 1991. He then went on to earn his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License in the State of New Jersey.
Out of college, Darren first worked as an auditor for Coopers and Lybrand, LLC before taking on progressively challenging roles in Finance Leadership at various pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, including Schering-Plough (now Merck) and Par Pharmaceutical in New Jersey and Gilead Sciences in California.
Darren was an active member of the Omega Psi Phi, Inc fraternity, an avid golfer and runner.
Darren is survived by his wife, Kelly, his daughters Sydney and Courtney, his parents Kelly Sr and Laura Willoughby, his brothers Kelly Jr (Cheryl) and Izaiah, and sisters Angela and Shakira. He was preceded in death by his son, Darren Jr. Darren will be lovingly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 fom 10:30am to 2:00pm at Galloping Hills Caterers in Union, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the memory of Darren K. Willoughby to the Omega Psi Phi scholarship fund.
