Matilda Maes (Tillie) passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday May 18, 2017 at the age of 99. Tillie was the loving wife of the late Carlos Maes and loving mother to her son Carl Maes (Carol Sherman) and her daughter, the late Virginia Maes Nelson (the late Lee Nelson). Tillie was the grandmother of Robin Maes Parmar (Koonal Parmar), Elaine Maes Ortega (Jesse Ortega), and Eric Nelson (Annie Smith) all of Oakland. She was the very proud great grandmother of Amaia Nelson. In addition, all her numerous nieces, nephews and their friends were always welcome in her home and most assuredly were invited to eat.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5 to 9PM, with rosary at 7pm at Grant Miller – John Cox Mortuary, 2850 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, CA.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 26, 2017 at 10:30AM at St. Augustine Church, 400 Alcatraz Ave, Oakland, CA.   Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery, 4529 Howe St, Oakland, Ca. with a reception to follow.
